Dear Hiring Manager:

My name is Scott Levine and I am writing to you today in response to an opening as manager of the Kansas City Royals, which became available on May 11, 2005.

From my attached resume, you can see that I am an experienced professional in the information technology field, where I have worked in many positions that have required me to have excellent interpersonal and resource management skills. In addition, I have been a baseball fan for over 25 years, and fondly remember the days when guys like Don Slaught, U.L. Washington, and Larry Gura were members of your fine organization.

It is my skills as a baseball fan that make me feel most suited for this position. I am familiar enough to know not to attempt a hit and run with your best hitter batting, for example.

While I understand I have no direct baseball experience, and this is not an entry-level position, I feel my love of the game and other skills would be a great asset to the Royals organization in this positon.

My salary requirements are in the range of $50,000 to $60,000 per year, but I am flexible for the right position.

I am an American citizen living in San Francisco, California, but I will be willing to relocate to Kansas City for this position, and will not require any relocation assistance.

Been Busy

I can tell from the deluge of well wishes and concerned email I've gotten lately, that everyone out there in netland is worried about the long time it's been since I've written. Rest assured I'm fine. I've survived my brush with that pizza, and even gone on to have some really, truly fantastic stuff at Little Star (New Window) on Divisadero & McAllister.

It's simply been a busy and stressful couple of weeks. Told the boss we're moving. Told the landlords. Told all of my friends--a surprisingly difficult thing to do. The movers are coming June 8. Works' been a bother, to say the least.

So, that's the skinny. More writing as time allows.

By the way, "Won Ton Lust," by John Krich, which I started reading recently, was miserable. For such a promising idea, it was barely worth returning to the library. They'd actually be better off without it.
